When photography is more than a hobby, it becomes part of the lifestyle of a person.  If everything you look arround has a camera perspective and the main ocupatopn in your trips is to take amazing photos; If you find the artistic perspective of every single scene, path, street, view... Can you feel this electric sense on your body before taking what you consider a great picture? The emotion of having create something new, original, unique and artistic.

Welcome to our blog of photography and young opportunities. Don´t be lazy, and find interesting opportunities and issues for your life developement. Don´t worry about any kind of pessimistic situation, we are young and we have the chance to create great and influential things. Just take your chance!

We are two amateur girl photographers who don´t want to go unnoticed in this life. 

 Hence, we are constantly looking for new ideas, new projects  and objectives. Here you have some photography tricks and general information which we hope can help you in your life.

PHOTOGRAPHY COURSES

Do you want to improve your level taking photographs? Do you want to consolidate your knowledge and acquire a certificate title?

If you live in Madrid there are many opportunities to study photography and prepare your future orienting it into an audiovisual world.

The first option we recommend you is the school EFTI (escuela de fotografía e imagen) where there is a range of courses depending on your level and your purpose.

For instance if you are also interesting in fashion you can do a master specialized in fashion photography. There is a lack of courses or opportunities in this fashion field. However photography is a way of directly communicate the idea  of a clothes line style. So, it is a job very practice and demanded which may would give you new options in your professional life in a recent future.

SIMPLE TRICKS

Are you sick of expensive filters and lenses out of your economic situation? Don´t worry you can experiment and find original and creative solutions to overcome this lack of material. Be creative and everything would be possible.

You can use a simple bag of plastic to create nice light effects. You have to encircle your lens with this paper, the one your mother use to preserve your sandwich. Then the broken edges would create an estrange light effects conferring your photos an amazing result. You can also partially paint the plastic and the light would create new color results.

Another useful trick is to reverse your lens and hold it in your camera as it would be the original position. Yes, it would sound strange but it is used to take macro photos. The order of the lenses are inversed so it creates a macro focus in short distances which gives you the opportunity to make professional macro photos with an standard lens.

But you have to be cautious with your camera and take care of the lens because you can damage the stabilizer in the process of reversing the lens.

If you are nostalgic about analog cameras. If you think that the aura which surrounds an analog photo is something special and unique. If you are not convince about your digital camera. Lomography is your chance!

IMPROVING YOUR PHOTOS

Photoshop is the editor of choice for pro photographers, but sometimes it is hard to use and very expensive to obtain. When you want to do a little retouching in a photo you can use also other editors that you can download from internet.

This is another activity subsized by Alcobendas town-hall, which consists in a one month trip to Colchester. This trip includes many touristic visits to the most relevant places of Colchester and also daily English classes each morning. In the afternoon, you could relation yourself with others, and the beach is close to the house where students reside during the month.   One of the best pros of this trip is its multicultural ambience, because this event is organized each summer by countries all over the world.

It is a perfect plan for your summer where you are going to learn English at the same time you enjoy yourself and meet others. You will have a new experience and meet different persons, sharing ideas, opinions and cultures. 

IMAGINA

‘Imagina’ is an organization created by the Alcobendas town-hall and it focuses exclusively in young people and its interests. They create many events each week which are very interesting, and best of all, very varied. You can find a huge range of different events, opportunities, competitions and spectacles oriented to young people and subsided by the town-hall.

It is true that there are a higher amount of subsidies for the Alcobendas citizens, as it is the town who invest in it. But people out of Alcobendas are not excluded at all. There have already organized so many events that it is practically impossible to name all of them. But you should check its webpage monthly in order to notice all the possibilities they offer, which do not last forever. They renovate constantly its offerings.

One of the lasts programs they had organized is called ‘Imagina tu noche’. There, young people have vote for an alternative activity for doing one night, as to ride horses or to go to the Park Attractions.  Once the votes are recounted, the most voted activity had been subsidize and organize by the town-hall. Also they have recently organized a photography competition with the topic: ‘bicycles’ and the winner photography set will be exposed in ‘El boulevard de las fotos’ (Photography expo street of Alcobendas)

Really, be patient and careful of those publications because there are many interesting possibilities for every kind of young person!

‘Escuela de Fotografía, centro de imagen’ is one of the main photography academies in Madrid. This is a private center which offers a very good instruction in photography field, both theoretically and practically. It poses high quality devices and functions trough modern educational techniques, focusing on photography as an art but also as a science.

Monthly, EFTI organizes a photography competition which consists in the following:

They provide you a topic, which changes each month and does not follow a pattern or an issue, so this topics change enormously. Once the topic is proclaimed, the competition starts. Competitors have a month to develop its idea and make it real trough a set of photographs which would transmit or sum up the demanded topic. At the end of the month, all the photos are judged by a team of photography critics and professors of the EFTI and finally they announced the tree winners. The prices change each month, but the first price it is always a DIGITAL NIKON CAMERA.

This curse is mainly directed to practical activities, but obviously there is also a theoretical part which makes the course members able to develop and expand its knowledge and then put it in practice.  It is necessary to have a social journalism base that would be imparted in this course, once this is acquired, we could pass to the practice.

ZOOLOGICO CLUB

Zoologico, as the majority of you know, is one of the main session-discotheques in Madrid City. Those sessions are always placed in the ‘Sala Marco Aldany’, in Plaza de España, and begun being famous in the last two years, becoming bigger and powerful.

Now, Zoologico Club organizes several artistic competitions where the winners normally get something in relation with the competition topic (and also free entries to the disco). Last month there was a very big event where people upload its own video, in which an animal defends itself in order to be the new Zoologico pet.  The winner of this competition has wined a Canon EOS 110D. For this month, there is programmed a singers competition and probably during the month they will publish more events. The topics of the competition are very dynamic and constantly changing so everyone can participate, choosing the field they manage the best or the one that interest them the most. It is easy to participate and if you are enthusiastic and creative it would be also easy for you to win.
