HOW TO MAKE A GOOD PORTRAIT

Take your camera, today you have wake up proud of yourself and have decided make a personal photo session. It would be considered narcissist thought but..
Nobody will be best portrayed by your camera than yourself!

First, besides your camera you also need a tripod and to make it better you can use a remote switch. We will focus on three points of the composition and give you some advices to make a good portrait.

FOCUS

It is a major point in the process of making a portrait. Ideally, you should focus on the eyes using a small depth of field to blur behind them. This is easy to achieve when you don´t need to use a tripod and you have the camera in your hand but be able to focus yourself is hardest. What you should do?
-       The first option is to use another model to focus first on it, and then take the same place in order to achieve the same effect. You can use as a model a person, but also a teddy bear or something with an appropriate size that can simulate your head.
-       Other option is to focus the tripod being in the same position where you want to posse. Then, put it on manual and the focus would be the same, because of the identical distance.
-       And the third option that is also a good advice for night photography you can use a laser and point it in the place where you are going to pose.
You need a small aperture exposure time to approach what you desire at the first time.

LIGHTING

If the picture takes place outdoors you can use the flash to light or even complete the light when you are shooting to the sun. You can also use disk reflectors mounted on stands. So you should use the strobist techniques in general.

SHOT

To shoot you have two options:
-       Using the camera's timer.
-       Use a remote switch.
It is better to use a remote switch because you can take your time to make the pose and do not trip over the tripod.
